Diggers dining

What better way to soak up the community atmosphere that comes with intergenerational living than by having a coffee with friends whilst taking in the stunning views.

From its stunning main bar that echoes the curves of the Northern Beaches coastline, to its sun-baked alfresco dining areas, indoor child’s play area and delicious dining offerings, the new Harbord Diggers precinct provides a wonderful location to dine, no matter the time of day.

The venue’s expansive Ocean Terrace is a versatile area and the perfect spot for eating, catching up with friends, listening to live music, enjoying sunset skies and even watching whales swim by. Bathed in sunshine by day and starlit by night, the Ocean Terrace is surrounded by local flora and boasts distant views of Curl Curl Beach and the magical Northern Beaches coastline.

The Harbord Diggers precinct is also home to three dining options and a cocktail lounge, including restaurants, Teddy Larkin’s Seafood & Steakhouse and AcquaFresca by Pilu, as well as a casual café, DD Collective. From authentic Italian pizza and pasta to steak and seafood, parmigianas and salads, the Diggers presents a range of cuisine options to tantalise all residents and guests.

Healthy living

Spread across two levels and featuring modern equipment, facilities and services, coming as part of Stage 2, the new fitness centre and aquatic facilities at Harbord Diggers will be a fantastic place to stay healthy and active.

A heated indoor pool, cardio room, weights room and group exercise classes are just the beginning of what will be offered. Looking out onto panoramic views and beautiful gardens, this centre will be the most inspiring space to exercise on the Northern Beaches.

Intergenerational facilities

This thriving intergenerational precinct has been designed to fit the needs of our community. A boutique selection of restaurants, bars, a café and activities have been brought together to provide an innovative and refreshing space that appeals to all ages.

A central reception provides a warm and welcoming arrival for patrons and their families and acts as an access point for the wide range of facilities. The grandchildren will love spending time in the indoor play area.

There is even a professionally managed childcare centre available for registration. Parents can spend time catching up with friends or receive well-deserved pampering in the beauty salon.

History and legacy

In the 1930s Australian soldiers founded Harbord Diggers so they could have a place to socialise, share a beer and ensure the sacrifices of their friends were not forgotten. From its inception the Diggers were a Not for Profit social enterprise, selling water on the beach they sought to earn money for war widows in the local community. Harbord Diggers made Northern Beaches’ history by donating the first CAT scan machine to Manly Hospital and the first motorised lifesaving boat to the Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club. Today Harbord Diggers continues to serve the community through involvement with the Nippers, Swim School, Freshwater Surf Life Saving Club, Bear Cottage, Stewart House and the CareFlight service.
